2020 MAKB: Charles River
The first Massachusetts Kayak Bassin' event of 2020!
We are going to officially kick off the season with a roadrunner event on the Charles River!
This will be an online event, with no pre- or post-event gathering. Everything will be done online to adhere to social-distancing requirements and guidelines.
See the notes at the end of this description for important details!
For those unfamiliar, a roadrunner event means that you are
allowed to launch at any public access location between the event boundaries, which for this event will be the Walker
Street bridge in Medway and the Esplanade in Boston.
Within those boundaries, you are allowed to fish all connected rivers, tributaries, and ponds to the
first impassable obstacle (dam, culvert, waterfall, etc.). No portaging
around these obstacles allowed.
If you launch in an area where other anglers are launching, please wear masks and maintain your distance from them.
No gasoline-powered boats, sailboats, john boats, float tube, pontoon boat, or similar craft will be permitted.
No pre-fishing two days prior to the event.
Early Launch: 6:45 AM
Tournament Hours: 7 AM to 3 PM
Entry Fee: $50 *
Optional Pickerel Lunker Fee: $10
* Approximately $7 from all entry fees goes toward paying TourneyX and PayPal fees.
As a proud Kayak Bass Fishing partner, MAKB has adopted Kayak Bass Fishing's Competition Rules Standards. However, we do a few things differently, which you can read in our Rules Addendum.
All anglers are expected to read, understand, and adhere to these rules.
Special Notes for This Event:
1. The three-digit identifier code will be randomly generated and go live on TourneyX on Friday, June 5, at 8 PM. It will also be e-mailed and posted on Facebook.
2. Anyone caught fishing prior to 6 AM will disqualified and banned from all future events. No exceptions.
3. Please use the Check-In/Check-Out feature on the TourneyX PRO app before you launch and when you leave.
4. Anglers are not allowed to leave and move to a new location during the event, so choose your spot wisely.
5. The standings will be turned off at noon, two hours before the end of the event. Submissions will be judged that evening and the winner will be announced Sunday afternoon.
6. If you enter the optional pickerel lunker pool, please upload all
pickerel to TourneyX as you would a bass, but choose Chain Pickerel for
the fish type when submitting.
All pickerel submissions will be denied to remove them from the main standings. They are still visible for judging, however.
7. You may use fish grips while measuring pickerel (only pickerel). Just make sure the grips do not block where the nose of the fish touches the fence of the measuring board.
We will also not deduct for mouths open on pickerel. If there is a tie, anglers will split the pool evenly.
8. Anglers are not allowed to fish with non-competitors. Leave your friends at home.
