2020 MAKB: Taunton River
This will be an online roadrunner event, with no pre- or post-event gathering.
Everything will be done online to adhere to social-distancing
requirements and guidelines.
For those unfamiliar, a roadrunner event means that you are allowed to launch at any public access location between the event boundaries, which for this event will be the Plymouth Street in Bridgewater to the smokestacks at the Taunton Municipal Light Plant in Taunton (you'll see them).
Within those boundaries, you are allowed to fish all connected rivers, tributaries, and ponds to the
first impassable obstacle (dam, culvert, waterfall, etc.). No portaging
around these obstacles allowed.
See the notes at the end of this description for important details!
Watercraft permitted for use during competition are limited to kayaks, canoes, or similar crafts propelled by paddle, pedal, or electric motor. No gasoline-powered boats, sailboats, john boats, float tube, pontoon boat, or similar craft will be permitted.
No pre-fishing two days prior to the event.
Early Launch: 5:45 AM
Tournament Hours: 6 AM to 2 PM
Entry Fee: $50 *
* Approximately $7 from all entry fees goes toward paying TourneyX and PayPal fees.
As a proud Kayak Bass Fishing partner, MAKB has adopted Kayak Bass Fishing's Competition Rules Standards. However, we do a few things differently, which you can read in our Rules Addendum.
All anglers are expected to read, understand, and adhere to these rules.
Special Notes for This Event:
1. The Taunton River is tidal. This is unique for us. The water levels fluctuate roughly three feet between low and high tide. Please consider this when entering shallow areas, anchoring, or fishing around areas that might generate strong current.
2. You do not have to launch in the Taunton River itself. If you fish a tributary or connected pond, just make sure the area you are fishing falls into the first portion of KBF Rule 5B (below).
"Tributaries, canals, sloughs or estuaries separated from the rest of eligible water by temporary obstructions (e.g. fallen trees, log jams, beaver dams) that, if removed, could be entered by floating/paddling are considered eligible waters in which competition is permitted, and competitors are permitted to drag or portage watercraft over or around such obstructions. Those separated by obstructions of a permanent nature across or through which one cannot paddle/float (e.g. levees, earthen or concrete dams, berms, elevated roadbeds, spillways, waterfalls) are ineligible water, and competition in such areas is prohibited."
3. The three-digit identifier code will be randomly generated and go
live on TourneyX on Friday, July 10, at 8 PM. It will also be e-mailed
and posted on Facebook.
4. Anyone caught fishing prior to 6 AM will disqualified and banned from all future events. No exceptions.
5. Please use the Check-In/Check-Out feature on the TourneyX PRO app before you launch and when you leave. Anyone who does not check in will be disqualified.
6. Anglers are not allowed to leave and move to a new location during the event, so choose your spot wisely.
7. The standings will be turned off at noon, two hours before the end of the event. Submissions will be judged that evening and the winner will be announced that night or Sunday afternoon.
8. Anglers are not allowed to fish with non-competitors. Leave your friends at home.
