If you are on a body of water with no cell service, you need to be sure that location services are being tagged in your photos. VA Outdoors does not offer support for your phone, ask your carrier to help you.
Waters deemed off limits:
Quantico - all waters on base off limits, main river is ok
Swift Creek Res.
You may not submit fish from here.
VA Outdoors manages CPR tournaments using the TourneyX app, please install and register using this app. This will manage all entries, registrations and payments for each tournament.
1. General Rules and Regulations
1.1. Any largemouth bass, smallmouth bass or spotted bass will qualify as a legal fish.
1.2. Any fish that appears to be foul hooked will be disqualified.
1.3. Any fish that is dead, mutilated or appears to be altered unnaturally will be disqualified. Blatant abuse will eliminate you all together and a permanent ban will be placed.
1.4. No live or dead bait of any kind may be used at any time.
1.5. You must register in advance and submit your entry prior to the tournament end date.
1.6. The minimum length for all bass will be 12 inches in length, all smaller bass will be disqualified.
1.7. All fish must be caught by the angler registered - on rod, reel, line and hook with artificial lures only. No traps, snares, set lines or other methods of fishing other than rod, reel and line are permissible, even if legal under state game laws. Violation will result in disqualification from the Event.
1.8. All tournament hours are posted in the tournament details.
1.9. Each angler must use the TourneyX app. Photos must be taken with the app, and submitted with the app. The reason for this is that only fish from public waters can be submitted - if you dont use the app, we cant certify that your catch was from public waters. Catches not submitted through the app with the GPS location enabled are subject to disqualification.
1.10. In the event of a tie in score, the tied competitors longest (highest-scored) fish are compared, and the tie breaks in favor of the competitor with the longest (highest-scoring) fish. If the longest fish are equal, the second-longest fish are compared and determine which competitor wins the tie. If the second-longest are identical, the process repeats for each of the remaining fish. If all of the tied competitors highest scoring fish are identical, then the tie breaks in favor of the competitor whose photo was uploaded earliest.
1.11 Competitive fishing is allowed only on publicly-accessible waters within the geographic area designated, violation may result in disqualification from the Event. If a body of water only contains private marinas or launches, then that body of water is deemed private. Makeshift ramps or places to drop a kayak on private waters, does not make it public.
2. Photographing Fish
2.1. Each angler will be required to photograph their catch and post to the TourneyX app. An identifier will be provided in the TourneyX app at 7PM the evening before the tournament. This identifier must be written on your hand or a card - visible in the photo. This is to ensure that no pre-fishing/photos have been taking. It is your responsibility to write this down and use in photos.
2.2. Each picture must have the VA Outdoors code identifier in the picture. It is the anglers responsibility to have the identifier.
2.2.1. Pictures without the tournament identifier will disqualify that specific bass entry.
2.2.2. The tournament identifier must clearly be in view and not photoshopped or altered in any way, otherwise that specific entry will be disqualified.
2.3. Each picture must be taken using a commercially available measuring board. No homemade measuring boards can be used, no exceptions. Commercially available measuring boards must show the increments, if the increments and inch numbers can not clearly be seen, that specific fish may be disqualified, or rounded down to the next closest readable increment, in which there is no doubt to the judges ability to read a measurement. If your board is fading, make it easy and darken the measurements.
2.3.1. Only measuring boards with a bump plate on one end will be accepted. This is to ensure that the fish is clearly at the far end of the ruler. A 1" penalty will be enforced, subsequent penalties will be a disqualification.
2.3.2. If quarter inch marks arent present, then fish will be measured using the nearest half inch mark - this may result in a rounding down to the nearest half inch.
2.3.3. Extendable boards can be used but must be fully extended in the photograph. If not, your fish may be disqualified if the tournament cant determine if your catch meets the criteria.
2.4. All fish must have their mouth closed and touching the bump plate. If not, you will receive a half inch penalty for each specific photo.
2.5. A small opening in the mouth will result in a quarter inch penalty, keep the mouth closed.
2.6. Duplicate fish being submitted will result in disqualification of that specific fish.
2.7. All fish must be facing with the head pointing left, and the stomach towards the bottom of the board, a 1" penalty will be assessed otherwise, after the first penalty, subsequent entries may be disqualified.
2.8. Fish length is determined by its caudal fin (tail fin) touching or crossing the factory-marked quarter-inch mark increment (e.g., ridges, grooves) on the measuring board. If it falls short of a 1/4-inch factory mark, the length is rounded down to the next lower 1/4-inch mark that the bass caudal fin actually touches or crosses. If the tail doesnt clearly touch the closest quarter inch mark, the angler should round down to the next closest quarter inch mark, to which there is no doubt.
2.9. Each picture must have the full bass with no covering of the mouth, eyes, gills, gill covers or tail in any way or the specific picture will be disqualified, no exceptions. Anglers may place there hand along the mid point of the body, but no hand or fingers in front of the pectoral fin - or past where the anal fin connects to the body. If where it connects back to the body isnt visible due to a hand, finger or glove (or other object) the bass is disqualified. The head and tail must be visible to ensure accurate measurements. Please see this pic for reference. Hands on either sides of the red lines will result in a disqualified entry.
2.10. Nets and grippers (e.g., Fish Grip, Boga-Grip) may be used for landing fish during tournament competition, but nets and grippers must not obstruct the full view of the fish in photos. Violation will result in a 1" penalty.
2.11. Anglers are encouraged to take more than one photo of a fish. These may be helpful in the event the tournament has concerns or questions with one of your entries. Its cheap insurance against a disqualified picture.
2.12. Only first-generation photos will be accepted, no photos of photos, or photos of a computer screen, or screen shots etc.
2.13. Blurry photos will be scored at the highest readable mark by the tournament. If no marks are readable, the picture will be disqualified.
2.14. VA Outdoors judging and decisions will be made a tournament committee comprised of those individuals that run and support all the VA Outdoors events. Decisions are final.
VA Outdoors is charged a fee per angler for using the Tourney X app, a fee of $5 per registration will be removed from the payouts. VA Outdoors does not keep any fees or money from the tournament.
